As stated in Part 1, I had two interviews. Fast forward, I didn’t get either jobs. I was disappointed because I had bills to pay. I stopped applying for jobs, then sometime in Oct my school had a job fair. I had prepared and went to it. I saw a company that I heard had paid internships. I’ve never had a internship before so I said why not? My criteria for a job was flexibility and pay. I prayed about this and seeked God about it. I eventually put in my resume for MTA (Metropolitan Transportation Authority).
Keep on asking, and you will received what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Kee on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone ho asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. You parents-if your children ask for a loaf of bread, do you give them a stone instead?-Matthew 7:7-9 (NLT)
God came through when I least expected it. He actually planned it where I was on my knees praying and crying for his help and I got the phone call from my aunt right after about helping her. My aunt needed help with her daughter since she is a night nurse. I eventually would stay with my cousin at nights and take her to school the next day. God bless my aunt, because she didn’t have to pay me but she did and she knew the struggle. My mom also helped me pay for my insurance. I never went around begging for nothing. Between you and I, my mindset is always: “I GOT THIS”, but soon it changed to “GOD GOT THIS”.
I didn’t worry as much because I realized God was there for me. During that season, it was just me and God and he was allowing me to see him move on my behalf, when he want and how he want.
Before the semester was over I got a phone call about the internship. I remember applying to three positions. I waited, waited and waited what seemed like forever. During the winter holiday, I had interviewed for two positions, both on the same day. Finally, I had got a job!!! I was six months without a job, but January 2014 I started working as an Administrative Aide in the Wellness Dept. God set it up where my job was down the block from my school and I was able to ride the public transportation for free. What a blessing in disguise!!! Just thinking back on this makes me hopeful and grateful for what is to come in this season.
It’s very true when they say God answers prayers three ways:
YES: he gives you what you want
NO: he gives you something better
WAIT: he gives you his best in his time.
If you didn’t learn anything from me sharing, I just want you to get this in your soul…
Not being present can deter you from not learning the lesson that’s being taught. God wants to teach us something in every season in our lives. Be present so you won’t miss it.
I am currently going through a season in my life and even sharing this blessed me all over again and encouraged me to stay the course. If you’re going through something now, I genuinely pray that you stay vigilant and seek God. Be patient with yourself and remember life is a journey.
