What Do You Value?

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Matthew 6:33 (ESV)

More and more I am realizing what I value in life. Along my journey, life is teaching me what is important me to. EXPERIENCE IS THE BEST TEACHER, and I’m loving it. Why? It is the only way you are truly going to know WHO YOU ARE and WHAT YOU VALUE.

Find New Strength

I cannot depend on my “will power”, I can only depend on God’s power. Life tends to burn me out. The world and all the chaos that takes place, also burns me out. I need to constantly replenish, through self-care, through quiet time and reading just to name a few.

It’s not easy though, sometimes I don’t want to pray, sometimes I don’t want to worship, sometimes I don’t want to write out my feelings and thoughts-but guess what? I FIND NEW STRENGTH WHEN I DO!! I am reminded why I need God everyday. One of the reasons why having a relationship with God is important is because his mercies makes me new again. God refreshes my soul.

I am able to do what it is, is required of me to do. I don’t take this relationship lightly. God is truly my Jehovah Jireh (the Lord will provide), my Jehovah Shalom (the Lord of peace) and my Jehovah Shammah (the Lord i there).

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases his mercies never come to an end, they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. (Lamentation 3:22-23 ESV).

Calmness in Chaos

CHAOS—I’m 💯 sure your experience of chaos is different than mine. It’s the interruption we experience on any given day, hour or second that ruffles our day. The unexpected situation = CHAOS.

But having CALMNESS IN CHAOS is possible. How sway? How? 🤔 How do you have calmness in chaos, it’s like a oxymoron. It’s like a catch 22. You want me to be calm while I’m burning in this fire (figuratively speaking).

Last month I experienced some “chaos”. It had me to the point of wanting to make DRASTIC decisions, wash my hands and be done, didn’t want to deal anymore. You know, where you are just done, sick of being sick and tired (yes, that feeling 🙄). I had to deal with my inner feelings of overload. Although this chaos wasn’t my battle to fight, but because I am connected to the person, it became my battle.

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”Matthew‬ ‭11:28‬ ‭KJV
Since I couldn’t do anything physically. Spiritually though, PRAYER 🙏🏾 was the ONLY thing. I’ve never prayed so hard and so much. That is when I’m reminded that God wants to give us calmness in chaos.

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”John‬ ‭14:27‬ ‭KJV‬‬

I cannot stress how much prayer calms me. The peace that is washed over me, when I wholeheartedly pray is reassuring. This is what God wants. I know it’s easier said than done, I know even after you pray you still experience the chaos. But “he gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless [Isaiah 40:29] when we surrender through our prayer with a pure heart.

Hope this encourages someone to go harder and pray more frequently in your everyday life. Not only when things go left, but even when they are right.

If prayer doesn’t work for you, share with me below what works best for you.

Misconceptions

Part of our journey there will be plenty of wait and see moments and we have to embrace, whether we like it or not. These wait and see moments may include waiting for a test result, waiting to see which college accepts you, waiting to see whether you got the job. All of these moments adds to your faith journey.

I came across this book called Wait and See: Finding Peace in God’s Pauses and Plans by Wendy Pope. Which is part of a Proverbs 31 Ministry Online Bible StudyContinue reading “Misconceptions”
